(NEWTON/FLORA) State Representative David Reis and the State Attorney General’s Office will host two area Identity Theft Seminars this Wednesday, February 21. The seminars are offered with hopes that residents can benefit from the information being presented on one of the biggest threats facing consumers in America today. (OLNEY) The Young Leaders of Richland and Clay County Farm Bureaus are offering three agriculture safety courses to area youth on three of the next four Tuesday nights, all starting at 6:30, at the respective sites. Students are encouraged to attend all three of the free events to learn more about safety issues around the farm. The first Safety Night is tomorrow, February 20, at the Olney Fire Department, on North Walnut Street in Olney. The second Safety Night is Tuesday, February 27, at the Farm Service Facility at the east edge of Flora. The third and final Safety Night is Tuesday, March 13, at the William Nobbe / John Deere Dealership at the east edge of Flora. (NEWTON) The Winter Jasper County Solid Waste Program continues now thru the end of March. The mid-week dumpster will be at the South Muddy location this Wednesday morning, from 7:30 until 12:00, or if the dumpster is filled before 10:30, another dumpster will be brought to that location this Wednesday. The Newton / Jasper County Highway Garage location will be open on Saturday, from 7:00 until 3:30, accepting appliances (with requirements), plus the county’s drop-off recycling container also available. .
(OLNEY/NEWTON) With an urgent call for all eligible blood donors to get out and give blood, here’s the list of upcoming blood drives in our region : Wednesday at the Robinson Community Center from 1:00 to 6:00 : Thursday at the Stewardson-Strasburg High School from 2:30 to 7:00 : Friday at the Richland County High School from 8:00 to 1:00 : Saturday at the Blood Donation Center in Effingham from 7:45 to 2:15 : all blood types and platelets are very much needed to help replenish low regional blood supplies.
