(SPRINGFIELD) Illinois median home prices showed strong gains in January compared to previous-year levels while statewide home sales decreased during the same period. According to Illinois REALTORS, the statewide home sales last month totaled 8,156 units, down 6.1 percent from January 2017. The statewide median price in January was $185,000, which was up 8.2 percent from a year ago last month. The data shows thirty-two (32) Illinois counties reported sales gains for January 2018 over previous-year numbers.
(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking project proposals for a new competitive grant program that aims to improve the mobility of freight at the local level. Applications are due April 6 for up to $225 million in National Highway Freight Program funds to be distributed through the year 2022. Eligible applicants include local, state, and federal governmental agencies, metropolitan planning organizations, and regional planning commissions. Project proposals from a private entity must have a public sponsor. Application and qualification information, plus other details are available online, at www.idot.illinois.gov/ILFreight. The grant awards will be announced in June. IDOT is hosting three informational meetings to explain the grant program and provide one-on-one assistance to prospective applicants. RSVP’s are encouraged. All meetings will take place from 1:00 to 3:00 each afternoon. The first meeting is tomorrow, Friday, February 23, at the IDOT District 8 Headquarters in Collinsville with the remaining informational meetings to be held February 28 in Schaumburg and March 5 in Springfield.
