(NEWTON/OLNEY) With the March 20 Primary Election less than four weeks away, the race for the 109th State House District Republican seat is heating up. While State Representative David Reis has been endorsed over the past two weeks by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and the Illinois Federation for Right to Life, challenger Darren Bailey late last week said that Reis’ vote last year on Senate Bill 1947, the state’s new school funding reform law, was in support of another massive tax hike to bailout Chicago Public Schools. In response this week, Representative Reis said that SB 1947 is not a bailout, but provides more than $5 million in new funding for all schools throughout Illinois. Check the candidates’ websites for more information at www.CitizensforDavidReis.com or at www.BaileyforIllinois.com, or look up their Facebook pages as well. The Reis/Bailey winner from the March 20 Primary Election will be on the Republican ballot for the 109th Illinois House District seat for the November 6 General Election.
