(OLNEY/NEWTON) In this week’s USDA Crop Progress and Conditions Report. As of Sunday, the state’s average temperature in February was 29.4 degrees, two-tenths of a degree (0.2) below normal. The statewide precipitation averaged 4.90 inches as of last week, 3.20 inches above normal. The state’s winter wheat condition as of Sunday was 5% excellent, 40% good, 39% fair, 8% poor, and 8% very poor. Illinois’ subsoil moisture was 9% surplus, 69% adequate, 20% short, and 2% very short. The state’s topsoil moisture was 37% surplus, 59% adequate, and 4% short. All numbers provided to the U.S. Department of Agriculture through data gathered by the National Agricultural Statistics Service.
