(OLNEY) The Illinois Forage and Grassland Council (IFGC) will host a one-day “crash course” for improving forage production at the 2018 Illinois Forage Institute coming up next Wednesday, March 14, a week from tomorrow, at Rend Lake College near Ina. While Certified Crop Advisors (CCA) credits are available for participating in the training session, the cost to attend this seminar is $15 for IFGC members, $20 for non-members, and $10 for students. Running from 9:00 to 4:00, lunch is included in the registration fee. Registrations submitted after tomorrow, March 7, or at the door will be $20 for IFGC members and $25 for non-members. Various topics will be covered, including cover crop species for forage & nutrition sources, hayland/forage economics & hay calculator use, soil fertility & grazing management, sorghum species in forage systems, pasture & forage insurance, and forage species selection & seeding methods.
