(EFFINGHAM) State Police District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, has announced activity numbers for the month of February. District 12 Troopers answered 152 calls for service and initiated 1,225 incidents in the field. The enforcement figures totaled 544 citations, including 247 speeding tickets, 79 seat belt citations, 40 criminal arrests, and 3 DUI’s. District 12 Troopers also assisted 176 motorists, conducted 263 motor carrier inspections, and investigated 63 traffic crashes with no fatalities. There were 345 citations issued for the “Fatal Four” violations, those that are most associated with fatal traffic crashes, including DUI, speeding, failure to wear a seat belt, and distracted driving. District 12 consists of ten area counties – Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Marion, and Richland.
