(OLNEY/NEWTON) Look for more periodic showers today through tonight in our downstate region as a cold front continues its slow movement across the Midwest. Heavy rainfall amounts are expected near and south of Interstate 70 tonight with some thunderstorms possible. A mostly dry Wednesday morning will be followed by more showers tomorrow afternoon with on-and-off rain chances late Wednesday night through Thursday and Friday afternoon. The rainy pattern actually continues through the upcoming weekend as well. The National Weather Service’s Flood Watch is in effect for our surrounding area until late tonight, specifically until 1:00 Wednesday morning, although more Flood Watches and/or Warnings are likely for the rest of this week. Stay tuned to a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for continued weather and/or flooding information.
