(MATTOON) The National Weather Service has now issued a Flood Warning for portions of Coles, Edgar, Cumberland, Clark, and Douglas Counties in effect until 2:30 this afternoon. Rainfall totals since early this morning have been recorded between 3 and 7 inches. As a result of the flooding, several roads in all of these counties are closed and impassable. All motorists are reminded to stay off of any roads that are flooded or covered with flooded waters. Stay tuned to a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for further updates and/or warnings due to the weather.
(MATTOON) Officials at Lake Land College have announced the campus is closing at 12:00 today (4/3/18) due to flash flooding in Coles County and the surrounding area. All remaining classes for today through tonight are canceled at Lake Land College just south of Mattoon. The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for portions of the counties of Coles, Clark, Cumberland, Shelby, Edgar, and Effingham after some areas had received anywhere from 4 to 7 inches of rain since early this morning.
