(OLNEY/NEWTON) The National Weather Service has issued a massive Tornado Watch in effect until 8:00 this Tuesday (4/3/18) night for all of Southeastern and South Central Illinois, plus portions of Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Tennessee. The Illinois counties included in the watch area are Richland, Jasper, Crawford, Clark, Cumberland, Coles, Effingham, Fayette, Clay, Marion, Wayne, Edwards, Wabash, and White. This Tornado Watch area includes all of the southern one-third of Illinois, pretty much everywhere south of a line along Interstate 70 from St. Louis to Terre Haute, Indiana. Another seperate Tornado Watch is in effect until 9:00 tonight for portions of Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. Remember, a Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable for the possible development of a tornado in and around the watch area. Occasional thunderstorms are possible in the watch area which could include hail, dangerous lightning, and damaging winds. Residents should stay tuned to a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for continued weather updates and further weather warnings, alerts, and/or announcements.
