(OLNEY/NEWTON) The Illinois State Police has released results from recent patrols in District 12 area counties. The Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols were held to provide extra patrol coverage for the State Police so Troopers could focus on saving lives by making sure all vehicle occupants were buckled up. In the Richland and Lawrence Counties’ OREP there were 27 total citations issued, 25 of which were seat belt citations. There were no child restraint tickets along with 18 written warnings. In the Effingham and Cumberland Counties’ OREP, there were 42 total citations issued, 33 of which were seat belt citations. There was one child restraint citation along with 16 written warnings. The Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols were funded by Illinois Department of Transportation.
