(OLNEY) The Richland County Fair “Spring Crash” Demolition Derby is this coming Saturday night, May 5, starting at 7:00. There will be four different classes available with an entry fee of $20 per vehicle. It’s for the first 60 cars or trucks only. The pit gate opens at 4:00 and closes at 6:00, with a drivers meeting set for 6:30. Concessions will be available and general admission tickets will be on sale at the gate. (OLNEY) Associate Professor and author, Kenna Quinet, will present information on recent homicide trends and cases at the Olney Public Library this Thursday night, May 3, starting at 6:30. The former Olney native will also discuss serial murder, mass murder, school shootings, and domestic homicide with a question and answer session available. Admission will be a free will donation to benefit Shelter Friends, plus a raffle including copies of Kenna’s book “The Will To Kill” will also be available. All are invited.
(OLNEY/NEWTON) With an American Red Cross “urgent call” in place for all eligible blood donors to get out and give blood, here’s some upcoming blood drives : tomorrow at the Altamont High School from 8:15 to 1:45 : both Wednesday and Thursday, at the Blood Donation Center in Effingham, from 12:15 to 6:45 (both days) : Friday at the Blood Donation Center in Effingham from 7:45 to 2:15 : all blood types and platelets very much needed to help replenish the extremely low area and Midwestern blood supplies.
