(CHAMPAIGN) The April weather statistics for Illinois have been released by the Illinois State Water Survey showing that last month was the second coldest April on record in the Land of Lincoln. The statewide average temperature last month was 44.7 degrees, which was 7.9 degrees below normal. The state’s lowest temperature reported in Illinois for April was -1 at both Avon and Lincoln on April 2, while the warmest reading was 86 degrees at Kaskaskia on April 13. Dating back to the year 1895, last month’s 44.7 degrees was second only in Illinois to 43.1 degrees which was set in April 1907. The statewide average precipitation for April in Illinois was 2.46 inches, which was 1.32 inches below normal. All data is collected by the Illinois State Water Survey, located on the University of Illinois campus in Champaign.
