(OLNEY) The 24th Annual Illinois Envirothon was held last weekend in Monticello with twelve teams competing in the FFA Division contest and fourteen teams competing in the Land Use Council contest. The respective teams from Richland County High School in Olney were the only teams from the same school that finished in the top three of each competition. Olney’s second place team in the FFA contest included team members Elaine Rudolphi, James Rudolphi, Kara Rudolphi, Travis Wilke, and Lance Mitchell. Olney’s third place team in the LUC contest included team members Adam Brewer, Seth Kocher, Seth Mitchell, Jessica Shilling, and Evan Walker. The winning FFA team was from Paxton/Buckley/Loda High School in Ford County while the third place team was from North Clay High School in Louisville, in Clay County. The LUC contest was won by the team from Clinton High School in Dewitt County while the second place team was from Benet Academy High School in DuPage County. The envirothon competition combines classroom learning with hands-on field experiences focused around five major topics including aquatics, forestry, soils, wildlife, and a current environmental issue, which this year is western rangeland management. Congrats to the RCHS teams from Olney in the Annual Illinois Envirothon competition.
