(WINDSOR) It’s the popular 2018 Spring Rendezvous and Links to the Future event coming up tomorrow, May 19, at Wolf Creek State Park on Lake Shelbyville, northwest of Windsor. The annual outdoor youth festival is open to the public from 9:00 to 5:00, focusing on promoting, preserving, and continuing Illinois’ outdoor sporting traditions, all sponsored by the Lincoln Trails Council Boy Scouts of America along with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. There will be opportunities to go fishing, kayaking, watch or participate in a dutch oven gathering, shoot BB guns or shoot trap, archery, tomahawk throwing, and more. Those attending can learn more about falcons and birds of prey, try ham radio, metal detectors, flint-napping, and more, plus visit many outdoor displays and activities such as rope making, blacksmiths, woodworking, and more. The Army of Tennessee CSA/USA re-enactors will return with their real vintage cannons, along with their real period costumes and equipment, plus the Prairieland Frontiersmen will encamp the lifestyle, clothing, and trades of the Rendezvous Era. The annual event has proven to be an overwhelming success with outdoor enthusiasts, young and old alike, combining the efforts of major Illinois conservation and wildlife organizations with those of seasoned outdoor people and history preservationists.
