(OLNEY/NEWTON) As an upper level ridge continues to build across the central U.S. up into Canada, our downstate weather will stay dry with plenty of sunshine on this Wednesday. A few high clouds could spill into our area, however we’ll stay dry for at least a couple of more days, through the end of the work week. The ridge is expected to break down by the end of the week, allowing for a storm system to move into the upper Mississippi Valley by Friday night. Although there will be chances of scattered rain and thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday, the holiday weekend should still have extended periods of dry weather. It’s also this weekend that heat index readings will climb well into the 90’s. Stay tuned for continued weather updates.
