(EFFINGHAM) Illinois State Police District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, has released the activity and enforcement figures for the month of May. Troopers answered 222 calls for service and 1,687 incidents in the field during the 31 days and nights. The enforcement figures totaled 935 citations and 830 written warnings, including 558 tickets for speeding, 108 seatbelt tickets, 16 criminal arrests, and 7 DUI’s. District 12 Troopers also assisted 243 motorists, conducted 191 motor carrier inspections, and investigated 73 traffic crashes, one of which included 1 fatality. Also during May, there were 702 citations and 323 written warnings issued for the “Fatal Four” violations, those most associated with fatal crashes including failure to wear a seatbelt, distracted driving, speeding, and DUI. The ISP District 12 includes ten counties – Jasper, Richland, Lawrence, Crawford, Clark, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Marion, and Clay.
