the visiting Saints took care of the host Panthers, 28-10
there will be eleven games on Sunday, with Week Nine ending Monday night in New York

the 7th grade Junior Lady Eagles lost to Paris Mayo, 30-17 in the conference championship game
the Newton / Jasper County junior varsity squad finished in 2nd place in the conference tournament
both the Junior Lady Eagles' teams will return to action next Monday night at home against Dieterich

 

(OLNEY)  in Boys Junior High School Basketball last night – Clay City dropped two games on the road
the Cubs lost the 8th grade game to New Hope, down south of Fairfield, 29-25
the 7th grade Cubs lost the junior varsity game to New Hope, 38-15

the Newton Eagles are preparing for their rematch with the Maroons at Robinson tonight
  *  the Eagles will try to avenge a tough double overtime loss back in Week Five on September 26th
  *  while Newton enters with a 5&4 record, Robinson comes in at 8&1 on the year
  *  it’s a Friday night matchup at Robinson High School with game time at 7:00
  *  admission is at $5 per person, set by the IHSA – no passes will be accepted
  *  there’s no advance ticket sales and the gates to Crosby Field will open at 4:45 late this afternoon
there are three other downstate Class 3A games this weekend, all three scheduled for Saturday afternoon

the Blue Knights are again in the Vincennes University Classic

  *  the OCC men then return for another 4:00 (Illinois time) game tomorrow against Jefferson Tech
  *  the Blue Knights open up at home next Wednesday night against Lincoln College in the “The Dungeon”
the Lady Knights are again at the Wabash Valley Classic down at Mt. Carmel
  *  the OCC Ladies open up this afternoon at 5:00 against Dyersburg State
  *  then the Lady Knights return for a 1:00 game tomorrow afternoon against Owens Community College

it was San Francisco with a 3-2 win over the host Royals in the seventh and deciding game
the Giants have won three of the last five World Series, capturing the crown previously in 2010 and 2012

 

(NEWTON)  the 2014 Spooktacular Events were held this past Saturday in Oblong
the Spooktacular Marching Band Field Show involved 14 bands in five categories and competition
the Newton Marching Eagles were the Show’s Grand Champion, while Mt. Carmel was the Fan’s Choice
  *  Class 3A  :  Newton was first, winning all three categories : Drum Major, Percussion, & Auxiliary
      *  Robinson finished in 2nd place
  *  Class 2A  :  Mt. Carmel was first, winning the Auxiliary category
      *  Danville was 2nd  :  Rich Central High was 3rd, winning the Drum Major & Auxiliary
      *  the Olney Marching Tigers were 4th  :  then Salem and Casey-Westfield

Sunday – the Giants beat the Royals, 5-0 – San Francisco now leads the series, three games to two

the Olney Lady Cubs beat St. Mary’s Mt. Carmel in an 8th Grade Shootout game, 50-30
  *  Olney was led in scoring by Colleen Inyart with 14 points and Taylor LeCrone with 12 points
  *  the 2&0 Lady Cubs are back in action tonight at Effingham
the Newton / Jasper County teams took two games at Palestine
  *  the Junior Lady Eagles won the 8th grade game, 42-17
     *  Newton’s Mallory Bergbower had 19 points and Alison Russell had 16 points
  *  Jasper County also won the 7th grade game, 36-9
  *  the Junior Lady Eagles played in the Conference Tournament this past Saturday
