(NEWTON) in high school baseball Saturday – Newton split a pair of conference games with Paris : * the Eagles lost the first game, 4-2 although Newton out-hit the visiting Tigers, 9 to 7 – the top Eagle hitters were A.J. Hyatt and Mark Mammoser with two hits each * the Eagles won game two, 10-3 as Newton out-hit Paris, 11 to 3 – the top Eagle hitters were Mitch Mammoser with three hits & three RBI, plus A.J. Hyatt & Caleb Chesnut with two hits apiece – Elijah Knepper was Newton’s winning pitcher with the complete seven inning game, allowing only one earned run on three hits & striking out eleven * now at 11&17 overall, finishing 3&11 in the Apollo, the Eagles will host Dieterich today

(NOBLE) in girls high school softball – the Midland Trail Conference Tournament starts tomorrow : * top-seeded Wayne City will host #8 Sandoval * 2nd seeded Odin will host #7 Cisne * 3rd seeded Woodlawn will host $6 Grayville * 4th seeded Noble / Clay City will host #5 South Central the Tournament finals will be held Thursday and Friday at Woodlawn
(OLNEY) in junior varsity baseball from last week – Olney took three out of four to end the year : * the JV Tigers swept two games from Mt Carmel, winning game one, 7-1, and winning game two, 9-6 * the JV Tigers split two games with Salem, losing game one, 1-0, but winning game two, 9-2 * the JV Tigers finish the season with a yearly record of 19 wins and 7 losses * among the JV Tigers’ top hitters : Nolan Shan hit .397 for the year with 29 hits & 33 runs scored : Evan Eagleson hit .392 with 20 hits : Payton Billington had a team high 23 RBI * among the JV Tigers’ top pitchers : Noah Buscher was 3&2 with 40 stikeouts in 28 innings of work : Dylan Tayler finished at 4&4 on the year : Ryan Eagleson ended up at 4&3
(OLNEY) in boys junior high track from last week – Olney was second in the Jr NEC Meet : * Salem won the six team event with 140 points – Olney finished second with 95 points, followed by Fairfield with 87, Mt Carmel with 86, Flora with 68, and Carmi with 46 * Olney won three of the sixteen events – also had four 2nd’s, two 3rd’s, and two 4th’s * Treston Stanley won the 1600 meter run * Ben Lynch won the pole vault * Josh Domingue, Devon Morgenstern, Ben Lynch, & Hunter Wyatt won the 800 meter relay * Tanner Hout was second in the 100 meter low hurdles * Trevor Dobbs was second in the pole vault * Josh Domingue was second in the 200 meter dash we look at the Boys Class L Regional results from Saturday in our sports report tomorrow
