(OLNEY)  in Major League Baseball , involving our Midwestern teams

the Cardinals beat the Rockies on Friday 7-0, Rockies beat St. Louis Saturday 6-2 and on Sunday, the Cardinals over the Rockies 3-2. The Cardinals and Reds open a three games series at Great American Ball Park on Tuesday night.

 

(OLNEY) In Little League Baseball, the Olney 12 Year Old All Stars won their opening game on Friday night over Oglesby 4-0, then on Sunday afternoon Olney defeated West Springs 9-5. Olney is now undefeated and moves into the State Tournament Championship on Tuesday Night.

 

(OLNEY) In Little League Baseball , Olney 9&10 Year Old All Stars Baseball State Tournament at River Forest, Illinois with eight teams involved this weekend. On Saturday, Elmhurst defeated Olney 10-0,

Then Olney bounced back early Sunday Morning defeating Rochelle 15-3. Olney plays tonight in an elimination game.

 

(NEWTON) Newton finished third place over the weekend at the State Jr. Legion Tournament held at Quincy. In game one, Newton defeated Danville Gold 1-0, Mitch Jansen pitched a complete game shutout, John Grunloh with an RBI. In game two, Breese Gray defeated Newton 8-0. In game three, Newton defeated Shelby County 9-2, Nate Meinhart pitched the complete game victory, Tim Weber with a triple, and two runs batted in and Mitch Jansen had a double, triple and two RBI’s. In game four, Breese defeated Newton 4-3. Mitch Jansen, Tim Weber and John Grunloh made the all tournament team. Newton finished the season at 26-8, third place in State and won the Altamont Summer Slammin’ Tournament.

(OLNEY) the Olney FFA Golf Outing is Friday, August 7th at the Richland Country Club. Lunch at 12pm with a shotgun start at 1pm. The cost is $200 for team of 4 or $50 per player. Proceeds go to sponsor activities for the FFA students and scholarships.

 

(OLNEY) Richland High School will be hosting an athletic meeting for parents, coaches, and student athletes who plan to participate in highs school athletics during the 2015-16 school year.  The meeting will be held on Thursday, August 6th at 6:00 p.m. in the Richland County High School Sliva Auditorium.  Fall sports coaches will also be conducting meetings for their respective sports.  It is recommended that all students who plan to participate in athletics during the 2015-2016 school year attend the meeting. 

 

(OLNEY) RCHS student athletes that did not get a physical when offered at RCHS last spring need to make sure they have a current physical before participating in first day of practice on August 10th for football and August 12th for all other fall sports. Physicals are valid for one calendar year from the date of the physical. All incoming freshman’s school physical does count for an athletic physical

 

(NEWTON) There will be a parent meeting for all three sports, Jasper County Jr. High baseball, softball and cross country on Monday, August 3rd at 6pm in the cafeteria at JCJH/NCHS. Parents of junior high students who want to participate should attend this meeting. Parents will be able to fill out all necessary forms, get practice schedule, game schedules, and pay the $20 participation fee. All athletes must have an up-to-date physical in order to begin practice. Physicals may be turned in at the meeting.

(OLNEY) In Little League Baseball , 9&10 Year Old Baseball State Tournament which is a double elimination tournament will be played at River Forest, Illinois with eight teams involved this weekend. Olney’s first round game is Saturday at noon vs. Elmhurst on 107.1 FM/ 740 AM WVLN.

 

(OLNEY) In Little League Baseball, the Olney 12 Year Old All Stars are preparing for the State Tournament in Lansing starting tonight with a first round game at 8pm vs Oglesby on WVLN.

the Cardinals lost to the Reds 1-0, Cubs over the Rockies 3-2, Pirates beat the Twins 10-4 and

the White Sox beat the Red Sox 9-2. The Cardinals cap an 11-game home stand with a four-game series against the Colorado Rockies starting tonight. RHP Carlos Martinez will get the start.

 

(OLNEY) In Little League Baseball ,         9&10 Year Old Baseball Sub State action

Last Night Olney beat Taylorville. Olney & Moline are the top two teams heading to The State Tournament which is a double elimination tournament will be played at River Forest, Illinois with eight teams involved this weekend. Olney’s first round game is Saturday at noon.

(OLNEY) In Little League Baseball ,         9&10 Year Old Baseball Sub State action

Olney beat Pike County 14-12 and with the win will be heading to the State Tournament. In the other

Game last night Moline beat Paris 15-2, Moline is also advancing to State. Tonight Olney plays Taylorville at 6:30pm. The State Tournament is a double elimination tournament will be played at River Forest, Illinois with eight teams involved this weekend.

 

(OLNEY) In Little League Baseball, the Olney 12 Year Old All Stars are preparing for the State Tournament in Lansing starting this Friday night with a first round game at 8pm.

 

(NEWTON) in Jr. Legion baseball from Monday night, Newton beat Duquoin, 7-2, Brock Mammoser was the winning pitcher, Brock also had a triple and RBI, Mitch Bierman had a single, double and 2 RBI and

Mitch Jansen had a single and 2 RBI. Newton is now 24-6 and advance to the Jr. Legion State Tourney in Quincy on Thursday at 3pm. Newton will face Danville Gold in first game.

The meet is hosted by the Milstadt Dolphins Swim Team and will feature swimmers throughout Central & Southern IL who qualified for the meet by finishing in the top six at their respective summer swim conference meets. The Olney swimmers will join with others from our conference and swim together representing the Illiana Swim Conference.

the Cardinals beat the Reds 4-1, Lance Lynn picks up the win, Kolton Wong blasts a grand

slam in bottom of the 4th.   Elsewhere, Cubs over the Rockies 9-8, White Sox beat the Red Sox 10-8.

Last night’s games were postponed until Wednesday due to rain, Olney plays tonight at 8pm against Pike County then tomorrow vs.Taylorville at 6pm.
