the White Sox & Royals were suspended at 2-2 and will be completed today  :  Twins & Braves both lost

the host Maroons won the Robinson Invitational, while Newton was second and Olney finished third

Mattoon won the event, followed by Teutopolis second, Charleston third, Olney fourth, and Red Hill fifth

(NEWTON)  in High School Softball – the Newton Round Robin Tournament was last night
the host Lady Eagles won the event by winning all three of their games at the Boys & Girls Park in Newton
* the Lady Eagles beat the Olney Lady Tigers in the first game, 9-7 as Newton outhit Olney, 13 to 7
* Newton then beat Altamont, 12-1 and went on to win their final game over St. Anthony, 8-6
the Olney Lady Tigers finished in second place by winning their last two games
* Olney beat St. Anthony, 11-0 and in their final game, the Lady Tigers beat Altamont, 11-1
St. Anthony finished third as they won the head to head game with Altamont, 18-10

the Olney Little League Opening Day Ceremony is cancelled and will not be held
*  today’s scheduled Olney Little League games will be played or cancelled on a game-per-game basis
the Richland County Softball League Opening Day Ceremony will be held at 10:00, but it’s been moved
*  the ceremony will be held in Ron Herrin Gym at East Richland High School – remember no cleets
*  the Richland County softball games scheduled for today have all be cancelled
we’ve received no word about the Opening Ceremonies for the Youth League in Noble this morning

the Eagles beat Red Hill, 13-0 in five innings as Newton outhit the host Salukis, 14 to 1
* Newton’s winning pitcher was Blake Probst, throwing the one-hit shutout while striking out two
* Nick Reis and Mitch Jansen each had 3 hits – Reis had a home run and 2 RBI

in a game moved to Olney from Albion, the Tigers & Lions 3-3 tie game was suspended after 9 innings
* Tyler Zuber pitched all nine innings for Olney with a low pitch count
* Olney’s top hitters were Reid Kocher and Troy Houchin, both with two hits each
the game will be rescheduled to resume in the top of the 10th inning with Olney coming to bat
while Edwards County came into the game undefeated at 3&0, the Tigers came in at 2&1
