the host Eagles took care of business by beating the visiting Panthers from North Carolina, 45-21
Week Eleven of the NFL will start this Thursday night with the Dolphins hosting the Bills down in Miami

 

(OLNEY)  in Boys Junior High Basketball last night – Clay City won two games at home
the Cubs won the 8th grade game over Geff, 47-31
Clay City also won the 7th grade game, 26-18

 

(NEWTON)  in Girls Junior High Basketball last Saturday – Newton / Jasper County won two at home
the Junior Lady Eagles won the 8th grade game over Marshall, 37-27
  *  Newton’s top scorer was Mallory Bergbower with 23 points
the Jasper County girls also won the 7th grade game, 46-14
the Junior Lady Eagles were back in action last night at Casey

 

(NEWTON)  in Junior College Basketball tonight – the Lincoln Trail College teams hit the home court
the LTC teams will be honoring all Veterans that attend tonight’s games, plus Veterans will be admitted free
  *  the Lady Statesmen will host Ivy Tech in the 5:30 game
  *  the LTC Statesmen will host Lincoln College in the second game at 7:30

in Women’s Junior College Hoops
  *  the OCC Lady Knights lost a tough game to Danville in overtime, 74-70
  *  Shelbi Samsil and Sarah Jones led OCC, each with 19 points
  *  at 0&4, the Lady Knights are off until November 18th, when they play at McKendree University
in Men’s Junior College Hoops, the Rotary Classic ended with the final two games
  *  Vincennes University beat Ancilla College, 78-57 as the Trailblazers remain undefeated at 4&0
  *  the OCC Blue Knights beat the South Carolina Sports Academy, 98-66
      *  OCC was led by Steven Davis with 21 points and Alex Brown added 16 points
  *  at 3&2, the Blue Knights are back in action this Wednesday when they host Highland College at OCC

  *  the Olney 8th grade squad beat the host Lady Bobcats, 46-19 improving to 6&3 on the year
  *  the Lady Cubs were led in scoring by Cameron Hough with 17 points and Colleen Inyart with 14 points
  *  the Lady Cubs are back in action this Wednesday at Albion
at the Olney Central College Shootout – Olney / St. Joe picked up a big win
  *  the Lady Wildcats beat St. Mary’s Mt. Carmel, 21-13
  *  Chelsea Ochs led St. Joe with 7 points and 12 rebounds
  *  the Lady Wildcats are back in action this Wednesday night at home against Oblong
at the Flora 7th Grade Tournament – the junior varsity Lady Cubs won the championship game

in game two, the OCC Blue Knights lost a tough one, falling to the Ancilla Chargers, 54-53
   *  Alex Brown led OCC with 14 points, while Tyler Brough added 13 points
the Classic’s final two games will be tonight, back in “The Dungeon”

(NEWTON)  the 2014-2015 Newton Eagle Basketball reserved seats are now on sale for NCHS fans with reserved seats from last season – the general public sale of the reserved seats will begin next Monday, November 10th – the reserved seat price is at $40 each and the seats are good for the Eagles’ regular home season games only, not for any tournament games that might be played at NCHS – family passes are also available – for tickets or details, call Diane in the NCHS office at 783-2303

 

(DIETERICH)  also the Dieterich High School is currently selling reserve seat season tickets for boys basketball to past season ticket holders, but for only one more day – the season tickets remaining will be on sale to the general public starting next Monday, November 10th – individual and family season passes are also available – call or stop by the Dieterich High School office, weekdays from 8:00 to 3:30

(OLNEY)  in Junior College Basketball last night – the OCC teams dropped two at home
the OCC Blue Knights erased an 18 point deficit, but lost to Lincoln College in overtime, 79-77
  *  Dimitri Reaves led OCC with 20 points, while Steven Davis had 17 and Tyler Brough had 16
  *  the OCC men drop to 1&2 on the year while Lincoln College improves to 2&1
  *  the Blue Knights return to action Friday night at 7:30, game two of the Rotary Classic at OCC
the OCC Lady Knights gave up 58 second half points and lost to Parkland College, 105-56
  *  sophomore Shelbi Samsil led OCC with 17 points, while freshman Hannah Resler had 11 off the bench
  *  the Lady Knights fall to 0&3 on the year, while the visiting Lady Cobras improve to 2&1
  *  the OCC Ladies are back in action Saturday at 3:30 when they host Danville Area College at OCC

(OLNEY)  the East Richland High School Fall Sports Awards Night is set for Monday, November 10th, in the Sliva Auditorium at ERHS, beginning at 6:30 – all fall sports athletes will be honored and recognized – all parents, guardians, and other family members are encouraged to attend

 

(OBLONG)  the Oblong Sports Boosters will hold its “back to school” fundraising Basket Binga this Saturday night in the Oblong Elementary School Gym – doors open at 5:30 with the games beginning at 6:30 – tickets at the door – plenty of games, raffles, an auction, a silent auction, and concessions

 

(NEWTON)  the Running Scared Zombie 5K event is this Saturday afternoon at Sam Parr State Park, northeast of Newton, with registration at 3:00 and race time at 4:00 – also, a 1 mile crawl – everyone’s invited to take part in the fundraising event to benefit the NCHS Yearbook – for more information or for registration forms, call Cheryl Walker at the NCHS office during regular hours, at 618-783-2303
