(OLNEY)  the Richland County High School will host its 2016 Fall Sports Awards Night on Thursday, November 17th, two weeks from tonight, in the RCHS Sliva Auditorium, beginning at 6:30 – the ceremony will recognize all RCHS fall sports teams and athletes for their accomplishments – all athletes, parents, guardians, relatives, friends, and the general public is welcome to attend the free event

 

(OLNEY)  the 5-K Run / Walk “Jogging for Joey” will be held on Saturday morning, November 12th, at the Richland County High School starting at 9:00 – registration is $15 before November 5th – all participants get a t-shirt and there will be awards for top runners and walkers – 100% of all proceeds will benefit the Memorial Scholarship Fund in honor of Joey Muhs – entry forms are available at TrustBank in Olney, the Citizens National Bank of Albion, the First National Bank in Olney, and Richland County High School – for more, call Rob Kirby at RCHS   618-393-2191

 

(NEWTON)  the 2016-2017 Newton Community High School boys basketball reserved seats will go on sale next Monday, November 7th, for fans who had reserved seats last season – the general public sales of the reserved seats will begin a week later, on Monday, November 14th – the price is at $40 per seat – the reserved seats are good for the Newton Eagle’s regular home season games only, not for any tournament games that might be played at NCHS – family passes are also available at $125 for two reserved chair seats with additional seats priced at $15 per chair – the Eagles open up their 2016-2017 season on December 6th – for more information or details, call Renee at the NCHS Office during regular hours, at  618-783-2303

here’s Friday’s Semi-Final results
* Westchester St. Joseph beat Bloomington Cornerstone Christian Academy, 4-0
* Normal University High beat Waterloo Gibault Catholic, 1-0
here’s Saturday’s final championship round results
* Normal University High won the State Title by beating Westchester St. Joseph, 3-1
* Waterloo Gibault won took Third Place over Bloomington Cornerstone Christian, 6-1

 

(OLNEY)  the IHSA Boys Class 2A and 3A Soccer Sectional Championships are over

* Class 2A  :  Jacksonville beat Waterloo High in PK’s, 2-1
* Class 2A  :  Springfield High beat Chatham-Glenwood, 1-0
* Class 3A  :  Peoria Notre Dame beat Collinsville in PK’s, 2-1
the 2A and 3A Super-Sectional Soccer matches are tomorrow – the State Tournaments are this weekend

the top five teams advancing teams to Saturday’s State Meet include
* Marion, Danville, Chatham-Glenwood, Springfield High, and Charleston
* Mattoon finished 6th, just short of advancing to state as a team – Mt. Zion was 9th and Salem was 11th
there were 163 total individual runners – among those advancing to the State Meet

(OLNEY)  the Brawl in the Fall Dodgeball Tournament is this coming Thursday night, November 3rd, in Ron Herrin Gym, at Richland County High School in Olney – the doors will open that night at 6:30 with the Dodgeball games to start at 7:00 – admission will only be $2 and there will be concessions and Olney Tiger t-shirts and more on sale – team sponsors are currently being taken – call Coach Rob Flanagan at  393-2191

 

(OLNEY)  the tryouts for Olney Cubs 6th grade basketball will be held tomorrow night and Wednesday night, November 1st and 2nd, from 7:30 to 9:30 each night, at the Richland County Middle School Gym – all 6th grade boys that want to play must tryout and should be at both tryouts each night – any player that is chosen for the team will pay a $40 fee for league expenses – all players must have an up-to-date physical exam – if questions, call Darrell Houchin at  395-4372  or either Rob Flanagan or Curt Nealis at  393-2191
