(OLNEY/LAWRENCEVILLE) Area and regional farmers are invited to attend an upcoming Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategies Conference, scheduled for Tuesday, March 6, from 8:00 to 12:30, at the Brubeck Arts Center Theater at Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel. The free conference, two weeks from today (2/20/18), will include a keynote speaker and several breakout sessions covering industry support for the 4R’s, NRCS involvement in the NLRS and 4R adoption, nitrogen monitoring, cover crops, & other 4R strategies. Lunch will be provided and the registration deadline is Thursday, March 1. Call the Lawrence County Farm Bureau office in Lawrenceville to sign up, at 618-943-2610.
(OLNEY/NEWTON) This is National FFA Week. We hope you’ll join us as we recognize all of our area FFA Chapters, their members, sponsors, and alumni who all spend countless hours making agriculture education and FFA what it is in Richland, Jasper, and all area surrounding counties.
(OLNEY) The Olney FFA Chapter continues its FFA Week activities at Richland County High School. Today (2/20/18) is Tacky Tourist Dress Day, plus a 5th Block All School Assembly today at RCHS. Tomorrow (2/21/18) is Official Dress / Blue and Gold Dress Day with the FFA Cookout from 11:30 to 1:00 at RCHS. Thursday (2/22/18) is Mismatch Dress Day with the FFA Petting Zoo from 8:00 to 2:30. Friday (2/23/18) is Western / Flannel Dress Day with the RCHS Teacher Appreciation Breakfast from 7:20 to 8:00 in the morning and the Barnyard Dance at RCHS Veteran’s Hall from 7:00 to 10:00 that night. To wrap things up Saturday, the FFA members will help with the “Bowl for Kid’s Sake” fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Richland County. That’s all during the National FFA Week observance by the Olney FFA Chapter at Richland County High School.
(OLNEY) The Young Leaders of Richland and Clay County Farm Bureaus are offering three agriculture safety courses to area youth on three of the next four Tuesday nights, all starting at 6:30, at the respective sites. The first Safety Night is tonight at the Olney Fire Department, on North Walnut Street in Olney. Students are encouraged to attend the free events to learn more about safety issues around the farm.
