(EFFINGHAM) Illinois State Police District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, has announced the activity and enforcement figures for the month of January. District 12 Troopers answered 195 calls for service and initiated 1,469 incidents in the field. Last month’s enforcement stats totaled 497 citations and 759 written warnings, including 241 speeding tickets, 48 seat belt citations, 23 criminal arrests, 5 DUI’s, and 2 child restraint citations. Troopers assisted 336 motorists, conducted 302 motor carrier inspections, and investigated 86 traffic crashes, with no fatalities included. During January, 325 citations and 301 written warnings were issued for the “Fatal Four” violations, those that are most associated with fatal traffic crashes, including DUI, failure to wear a seat belt, distracted driving, and speeding. District 12 includes the ten area counties of Richland, Lawrence, Crawford, Clark, Cumberland, Jasper, Effingham, Fayette, Clay, and Marion.
