(OLNEY/NEWTON) A strong frontal boundary extending from northern Illinois back through mid-Missouri will continue its movement eastward, producing showers and thunderstorms ahead of its track. For us in the downstate area, that means periods of some heavy rainfall likely tonight through tomorrow morning. With the colder air moving in behind the front, the rain could change to freezing rain and/or sleet before it ends. The rain will then continue tomorrow (Wednesday) followed by on-and-off waves of rain then Thursday through Saturday night. Generally dry weather is expected Sunday through next Tuesday. Stay tuned to a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for continued weather updates and details of the rainy and possibly stormy weather ahead.
