(SPRINGFIELD) Buyer demand is strong heading into the spring housing market, but low inventory continues to be a drag, driving sales lower and median home prices higher in March, according to Illinois Realtors. The statewide home sales last month totaled 12,455 units sold, down 7.9% from March 2017. The statewide average median price in March was $199,000 which was up 4.8% from a year ago. The stats show that thirty-four (34) Illinois counties reported sales gains last month over previous-year numbers.
(SPRINGFIELD) As part of Distracted Driving Awareness Month, the State Department of Transportation is making $500,000 in federal highway safety dollars available to nearly 100 local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to step up distracted driving enforcement now through April 30th. After all, it is against the law in Illinois to use a handheld mobile device while driving, with penalties for violating this law including a fine of up to $75 for the first offense. IDOT, along with the Illinois State Police and all local law enforcement agencies are urging all drivers to “Drop It and Drive” and promote safe driving.
