(OLNEY/NEWTON) Illinois and other Midwestern students will have help paying for college tuition during the 2018-2019 school year, courtesy of scholarships awarded by the IAA Foundation, which is the charitable arm of the Illinois Farm Bureau, that’s awarded $123,600 to 69 students pursuing degrees in agriculture-related fields, based on their academic ability, leadership involvement, professional career goals, and financial need. Congratulations to a couple of local recipients. Seth Mitchell of Olney is among three students who’ll each receive an IAA Foundation Award and Kendra Flood of Montrose was named the Illinois Farm Bureau Legacy of Leadership Scholarship recipient. Other area recipients include : Garrett Williams of Richland County : Hallie Murbarger of Edwards County : Clayton Smith of Lawrence County : Julie Wente and Penny Flood of Cumberland County : Renee Tillman, Taylor Hartke, and Alexander Hartke of Effingham County : Jacob Hubele and Josephine Hubele of White County. The Illinois Farm Bureau and county Farm Bureaus annually award more than $800,000 in scholarship support.
