(OLNEY/NEWTON) A strong short-wave weather system will continue to pump precipitation into our downstate area today, however the rain will be spotty through tonight. Once the wave moves out of the region early tomorrow, much drier air returns as high pressure covers much of the Midwestern region. That means dry weather conditions tomorrow through Saturday. The next weather-maker for Illinois is expected to move in with rain and thunderstorm chances by Saturday night and continue through the upcoming holiday weekend, although it could be much like we’ve had over the past week, which is scattered rain chances and not a total washout. Stay tuned here and to a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for continued weather updates and details.
