It’s been announced that the Cummins Municipal Band will begin its 2018 Concert Season next Wednesday, May 30th, at the Olney City Park Band Shell. It’s show time at 7:30 on Wednesday evenings. All are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and refreshments and enjoy the local talent in the City Park.
A reminder that the Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for next Monday in Olney. With lineup at the Olney VFW at 10:30, the Parade will leave for Haven Hill Cemetery at 10:45 and proceed northward on Walnut Street. The Memorial Day Program at the Cemetery will start at 11:00 Monday morning (in the case of rain, the program will be held at the Olney VFW with an announcement by 9:00 that morning).
With an American Red Cross “urgent call” in place for all eligible blood donors to get out and give blood, here’s some upcoming blood drives : today at the Palestine Grade School from 12:30 to 5:30 : tomorrow at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney from 12:00 to 4:00 : also Friday at the Rural King Supply Store in Effingham from 11:00 to 3:00 : Sunday morning at the St. Joseph Parish Center in Stringtown from 7:00 to 11:00 : all blood types and platelets are very much needed.
The pickup date for that “Dairy Dee On-The-Go Ice Cream” fundraiser to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Richland County is this coming Friday evening, from 4:00 to 6:00, at the First National Bank in Olney parking lot on Main Street. Orders can still be place by calling 392-3863 but time is running out. It’s your choice of vanilla, chocolate, lemon, strawberry cheesecake, or twist priced at $6 per pint.
