(OLNEY/NEWTON) This Memorial Day 2018 will for sure feel like summer as the heat and humidity continues across our downstate region, as a broad upper level ridge remains parked over the Central Plains, building northeast into the Midwest. There will again be the threat of an isolated or pop-up thunderstorm or shower today as the atmosphere remains unstable along with the heat and humidity. However, Tropical Storm Alberto moving into the Gulf Coast will add some moisture back into the atmosphere, impacting our Midwestern weather in a couple of days. The current projected path of Alberto’s remnant weather surge is towards the Ohio River Valley, which will give our Southeastern Illinois area some much-needed rain chances Wednesday afternoon through Thursday. However, that track could change between now and then. It looks to be dry again next weekend. Stay tuned to a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for continued updates.
