(OLNEY/NEWTON) The USDA has released the Illinois Agricultural Prices Report for April 2018. The Prices Received Index (Agricultural Production) dropped 2.2 percent from March 2018 while the Livestock Production Index was down an even 4 percent and the Crop Production Index decreased slightly by 0.6 percent. Compared to the year earlier, the Ag Production Index and Crop Production Index were both down 3.1 percent and the Livestock Production Index was down 3.7 percent. The Food Commodities Index dropped 3.8 percent from March and down 4.9 percent from April a year ago. Producers received higher prices in April for broilers, milk, corn, & hay, however lower prices for market eggs, cattle, lettuce, & hogs.
