(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting six cases of Salmonella that match a multi-state outbreak strain. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is reporting sixty (60) cases from the five states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, and Ohio. The CDC investigation indicates pre-cut melons, including fruit salads, are a likely source of this multi-state outbreak. The IDPH is urging people not to eat pre-cut melon purchased for any Walmart store in Illinois although such stores have now removed any remaining pre-cut melons from their shelves. Check the IDPH website for new updates.
