(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) announced yesterday that the unemployment rate decreased by one tenth of a percentage point (0.1) to 4.3% in May as nonfarm payrolls increased by 8,600 jobs over-the-month. The three industry sectors with the largest gains in May were Education & Health Services, Government, and Financial Activities. May’s largest payroll declines were in Information Services and Leisure & Hospitality. It’s the fifth straight drop in joblessness in Illinois.

(SPRINGFIELD) Free Fishing Days are this weekend throughout the State of Illinois, coinciding with the Father’s Day Weekend. Starting today and continuing tomorrow, Sunday, and Monday, everyone is encouraged to get out and introduce all children and families to the outdoor adventure of fishing. It’s during the four days that anglers can fish any public or state body of water without purchasing a fishing license, salmon stamp, or inland trout stamp.
