(VANDALIA) The investigation is continuing into a multi-vehicle crash that occurred this past Wednesday afternoon at 2:20 on Interstate 70, one mile east of Vandalia, in Fayette County. The State Police report 42 year old Robert Todoran of Hammond, Louisiana, was westbound on I-70 when he failed to reduce speed at a road construction site, struck a stopped semi-truck in the rear, and caused a chain reaction involving his semi-truck and five others. Todoran’s truck left the roadway, traveled down an embankment, and became engulfed in flames after the initial impact. Todoran was entrapped in his truck and pronounced deceased at the scene. Three others in the truck that was stopped and rear-ended were injured, including the driver, 27 year old Jon Wingo of Springfield, and passengers, 51 year old Rachael Wingo of Brownstown and a 14 year old girl from Brownstown. Interstate 70 was shut down for several hours into the night for cleanup.
