(OLNEY/NEWTON) As the high pressure that kept us dry with a mostly clear sky over the past few days moves off to the east today, a hotter and more humid airmass returns to Illinois. With the warm up, a stray shower or thunderstorm is possible today through tonight, although few and far between. A vigorous short wave will then push a weak cold front southward across the state by tomorrow night, giving us another shot of some scattered rain chances and a little less humid air. But it doesn’t last long, as the heat returns for the last of this work week with maybe more rain chances back in the forecast for the weekend.
