The Richland County Farmer’s Market is set up this week in the north part of the Olney City Park due to the Richland County Fair. That’s today (7/10/18) and Friday (7/13/18) from 9:00 to 4:00, just north of the old swimming pool in the City Park. It’s features farm fresh produce, baked items, and more for purchase.
With an American Red Cross “urgent call” in place for all eligible blood donors to get out and give blood, here’s the list of upcoming regional blood drives : today (7/10/18) at the KC Hall in Teutopolis from 1:00 to 6:00 : tomorrow (7/11/18) at the Blood Donation Center in Effingham from 12:15 to 7:15 : all blood types and platelets are very much needed to help replenish low regional blood supplies.
The Big Blue Book Bus is back this Tuesday (7/10/18) afternoon and evening from 3:00 to 7:00 at the TrustBank parking lot along East Main Street in downtown Olney. Sponsored by the Richland County Schools and the Rotary Club of Richland County, the mobile library is available to Richland County students Pre-K through 8th Grade with no library card and/or identification needed. On Thursday (7/12/18), the Bus visits the Noble Village Park from 3:30 to 4:30 and the Dundas Ruritan Building from 5:00 to 6:00.
The Stringtown Picnic at the St. Joseph Catholic Church is this coming Sunday (7/15/18) with an all-you-can-eat smorgasbord from 11:00 to 2:00 in the air-conditioned, handicap-accessible Parish Center. The menu includes beef, ham, & homemade noodle meals with carry-outs available and tickets at the door. Also other food, games, and entertainment from 11:00 to 6:00. The Scouts of Richland County invites everyone to its Free Swim Night this coming Saturday (7/14/18) from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Musgrove Aquatic Center in Olney. All youth, boys & girls, ages 5 to 18 or in grades K thru 12, are welcome to attend and learn more about the scouting program in Richland County. Check it out.
The Catholic Charities’ Ramblin’ Rose Bus will have its first of nine stops over the next two months coming up tomorrow evening, that’s Wednesday (7/11/18) from 4:00 to 6:00, at the Hall Home up in Shobonier. The Ramblin’ Rose offers free basic school supplies, plus clothing for children in grades K thru 12, serving the area counties of Jasper, Cumberland, Crawford, Clark, Effingham, Fayette, and Shelby. www.cc.dio.org.
