(EFFINGHAM) Illinois State Police District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, has announced activity and enforcement figures for the month of June, showing that Troopers in District 12 answered 208 calls for service and initiated 1,429 incidents in the field during the 30 days and nights. The enforcement numbers totaled 710 citations and 778 written warnings, including 308 tickets for speeding, 133 seat belt citations, 25 criminal arrests, 18 DUI’s, and 10 child restraint citations. District 12 Troopers also assisted 245 motorists, conducted 251 motor carrier inspections, and investigated 76 traffic crashes, of which 5 fatalities were involved. During the month of June, 499 citations were issued for the “Fatal Four” violations, those most associated with fatal traffic crashes, including DUI, failure to wear a seat belt, distracted driving, and speeding. The Illinois State Police District 12 includes ten area counties : Richland, Clay, Jasper, Effingham, Fayette, Marion, Lawrence, Crawford, Clark, and Cumberland.
