(OLNEY/NEWTON) Hot and humid weather will prevail across our downstate area today as upper level ridging remains firmly in place, giving us plenty of sunshine today and tomorrow. However, an approaching short wave weather system out to our west will bring us our next significant chance of some much needed rain with the first shot of getting wet after midnight tomorrow night. Then the rain chances increase for Sunday afternoon and evening while another stronger short wave system will push a cold front through our downstate region Monday into Monday night. Some weather models show the possibility of one to two inches of rain possible on average for our area by midweek next week. A cooler airmass is then expected next Tuesday through Thursday.
