(SUMNER) The investigation is continuing this morning into a two vehicle crash that occurred late last evening in Lawrence County. The State Police report that the two pickup trucks were traveling opposite directions on Christy Avenue, just a half mile south of Sumner, when the two 17 year old male drivers jokingly swerved at each other. As the trucks met and sideswiped, both vehicles caught fire and quickly became fully engulfed in flames. Passersby were able to remove both teenage drivers from their trucks. The one juvenile driver, from Sumner, was airlifted from the scene to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville while the other juvenile driver, from Lawrenceville, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, then later transferred to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. Lawrence County emergency personnel assisted the Illinois State Police at the accident scene. No charges have been filed to date.
