(GRANITE CITY) President Donald Trump is visiting the Midwest today, specifically the Metro East area. Congressman Mike Bost will help welcome the President to Granite City today as the hundreds of new jobs created at the once-idle U.S. Steel Plant will be highlighted due to recent tariff war with oversea countries. The President is also expected to talk to the people hurt by other tariffs, especially to farmers and others in ag-related companies. The President will also make a few stops in the St. Louis area today as well.
(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs has announced it will be honoring 200 Veterans from across the state who have gone above and beyond the call of duty on their achievements and on the extent to which their contributions have aided, benefited, and provided inspiration to their community. In fact, more than 100 Veterans have already been nominated to be recognized as part of Illinois’ Bicentennial celebration. The honorees will be announced in September will be featured guests at the Bicentennial Party Gala to be held at Chicago’s United Center. (CHICAGO) The State Attorney General’s Office, as part of a bipartisan coalition of twenty-one (21) attorneys general around the nation, is urging congressional leaders to improve American cyber security and protect the integrity of the upcoming 2018 midterm election against cyber-attacks and infiltrations like what occurred in 2016. The request also is asking for long term solutions to protect other elections in the future. Other Midwestern state attorneys general joining in on the call are from Iowa, Michigan, and Minnesota.
