(OLNEY/NEWTON) The USDA has released its Illinois Crop Production Report : The planted area to corn is estimated at 11 million acres, down 2% from last year, while the harvested area for corn is forecast at 10.85 million acres, down 1% from 2017. Based on August 1 conditions, the Illinois corn yield is estimated at a record 207 bushels per acre, up 6 bushels from last year. The corn crop production forecast at 2.25 billion bushels, is up 2% from last year’s production : The planted area for soybeans is estimated at 10.9 million acres, up 3% from last year. The harvested area for beans is forecast at 10.85 million acres, up 3% from 2017. Based on August 1 conditions, the Illinois soybean yield is forecast at 64 bushels per acre, up 6 bushels from a year ago. The bean production is estimated at 694 million bushels, up 13% from 2017 and the highest production level on record in Illinois : The harvested area for winter wheat in 2018 is forecast at 550,000 acres, up 17% from the previous year. The winter wheat yield is estimated at 66 bushels per acre, down 10 bushels from 2017.
