(HARRISBURG) Rides Mass Transit District continues to see ridership grow in its eighteen (18) South Central and Southeastern Illinois counties as routes for the previous fiscal year increased by nearly 6 percent. In fact, the numbers show that almost 718,300 passengers utilized the public transportation on RMTD’s routes in the fiscal year that ended June 30. While always looking for ways to improve their level of service, RMTD is continuing its effort to meet the challenges and opportunities in terms of transporting to many individuals over such a vast area. In addition to traveling locally, passengers can gain access to regional destinations such as Terre Haute, Evansville, Charleston, Champaign, Springfield, St. Louis, and Paducah, Kentucky.
