(OLNEY/NEWTON) With an approaching warm front we’ll have increasing cloud cover today, although most of today’s rain and thunderstorm activity will stay to our west and northwest. While there is a slight chance of a shower or storm for our downstate area later on today, the rain chances increase as we move through tonight and into tomorrow. In fact, our rain chances will come in waves over the next 72 hours with some heavy rainfall possible at times and maybe some severe weather conditions. The frontal boundary will stall out and waiver back and forth over southern Illinois, causing us more on-and-off again rain chances now on Friday and Saturday, although both days will not be total wash-outs. Maybe more rain chances returning for Sunday night into Monday. Stay tuned for continued weather updates and details and monitor a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for any severe weather alerts and/or possible warnings.
