(OLNEY) The Olney Public Library has announced that “Designs of Duty,” an exhibit featuring East Central Veterans and their service-related tattoos, will be on display at the Library starting a week from tomorrow, Saturday, September 1, continuing through Friday, September 28, four weeks from today. The “Design of Duty” exhibit tells the stories of seven military Veterans who served our country over a 45 year period throughout Asia and Europe. The Veterans featured in the display are Adam Griffy from Olney, Eric Hiltner and Wilson Reynolds both from Charleston, Shane Wright from Shelbyville, Random Clavin from Nokomis, Lyle Gordon from Towanda, and Ken Fernandes from Newman. While tattoos are a common symbol among the military, the “Design of Duty” exhibit aims to explore the inspiration and meanings behind them, as well as the stories of the Veterans themselves. Pride, patriotism, and honor are common themes in the artwork chosen by these Veterans showcased in “Designs of Duty.” All are encouraged to make plans to visit the display during regular operation hours at the Olney Public Library.
