(OLNEY) The Richland County Board met in special session for nearly one hour this past Wednesday evening at the County Jail meeting room. The Board’s only agenda item was to review and consider bids that were submitted for the county’s Animal Control Building project. With a total of nine companies inquiring about the project, only five companies submitted a bid and none of the five companies were considered local. On an unanimous vote, the County Board rejected all bids, the lowest of which was $140,000 more than the estimated base cost of $439,435. While the Board did discuss another possible existing building located in Olney to place Animal Control, no other motion was made, other than to adjourn. The Board did enter into executive session briefly to discuss contracts. The next regular monthly meeting for the Richland County Board will be Thursday night, September 13, at 7:00, in Olney.
