(OLNEY/NEWTON) With a Heat Advisory in effect for Richland, Jasper, and all surrounding counties until tomorrow night, it obviously will be another hot and humid day on tap for this Monday, plus again tomorrow. With highs topping out in the low 90’s, our heat index values will be at or just over the 100 degree mark, so take those needed precautions if working or playing outside. Otherwise, plenty of sunshine today and tomorrow as an approaching cold front moves slowly towards the Illinois/Iowa border late tomorrow night. While our downstate region could see a stray shower or storm towards daybreak, early Wednesday morning, the chances of showers and thunderstorms increase as we move through the day on Wednesday and especially into Wednesday night. Then a dry and less humid sky is expected for Thursday and Friday, however some heat and the next chance of showers and storms returning for the first weekend in September. Listen for weather updates and monitor a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for warnings and alerts.
