(NEWTON) The Jasper County FSA Office in Newton has announced that it has scheduled several meetings next week to cover the 2018 Market Facilitation Program (MFP), which provides direct payments to help corn, cotton, sorghum, soybean, wheat, dairy, and hog producers who have been directly impacted by the recent agricultural product tariffs, resulting in the loss of traditional exports. Three daily meetings will be next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, September 4th, 5th, and 6th, from 8:00 in the morning to 1:00 in the afternoon, at the Jasper County FSA Office in Newton, located at 1403 Clayton Avenue. An additional meeting will be held next Wednesday night, September 5th, at the Newton Masonic Lodge at 207 South Van Buren Street in Newton, starting at 7:00. Producers may apply for the MFP beginning next Tuesday, September 4, with the signup continuing through January 15, 2019. Both the application process and payment calculation, plus more, will be covered during these meetings.
