(OLNEY) The Richland County Farm Service Agency has announced it will host three informational meetings for area farmers over the next two weeks to talk about the Market Facilitation Program (MFP). During the meetings, which will be held at the USDA Office in Olney, the local FSA staff will provide an overview of the MFP program and discuss eligibility and documentation requirements. The first of the three meetings is next Monday night, September 10, at 7:30, with an afternoon meeting to follow on the next day, Tuesday, September 11, at 1:00. The third and final meeting will be a week later on Tuesday night, September 18, at 7:00. The MFP program provides direct payments to help corn, cotton, sorghum, soybean, wheat, dairy, and hog producers who have been directly impacted by the recent agricultural product tariffs. The sign up is underway now through January 15, 2019. If any questions about the MFP program or about the upcoming meetings, call the Richland County FSA Office at 392-7141, extension 2.
