(OLNEY) A community drive is continuing to collect new adult size men’s and women’s socks for the homeless that are served by a downtown St. Louis ministry. The local Unity Project initiative encourages individuals, clubs, churches, businesses, and organizations in Richland County to help out in this “New Sock Drive.” The new socks can be dropped off at several local locations in Olney, such as both Dollar General Stores, Uptown Girls Salon, The Lamb Ministry, Ginger Ales, the Olney Southern Baptist Church, or the First Presbyterian Church. Those wanting to donate can also contact the Unity Project on Facebook or call 618-843-9444 to arrange for pick up or more information. Local volunteers will deliver the new socks in time for fall and winter distribution to those in need. The Churches on the Streets (COTS) Ministry has been serving the homeless for six years, providing hot meals, hygiene supplies, clothing, basic first aid items, socks, shoes, & the gospel of Jesus Christ. We pray that everyone will help out in this worthy effort.
