(OLNEY) The Richland County Farm Service Agency will host three informational meetings for area farmers over the next ten days to talk about the Market Facilitation Program (MFP). During the meetings, which will be held at the USDA Office in Olney, the local FSA staff will provide an overview of the MFP program and discuss eligibility and documentation requirements. The first of the three meetings started at 7:30 this morning, with a Tuesday afternoon meeting tomorrow at 1:00. The third and final meeting is next Tuesday night, September 18, at 7:00. The MFP program provides direct payments to help corn, cotton, sorghum, soybean, wheat, dairy, and hog producers who have been directly impacted by the recent ag product tariffs. The sign up is underway now through January 15, 2019. If any questions about the MFP program or about the upcoming meetings, call the Richland County FSA Office at 392-7141, extension 2.
