(NEWTON/OLNEY) Illinois State Police District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, has released the activity and enforcement figures for August. District 12 Troopers answered 179 calls for service last month and initiated 1,494 incidents in the field. The enforcement numbers totaled 747 citations and 743 written warnings, including 415 tickets for speeding, 91 seat belt citations, 14 criminal arrests, 9 DUI’s, and 4 child restraint citations. District 12 Troopers assisted 256 motorists, conducted 211 motor carrier inspections, and investigated 63 traffic crashes, which included 2 crash fatalities. Troopers also issued 545 citations for the “Fatal Four” violations, those most associated with fatal traffic wrecks, including distracted driving, failure to wear a seat belt, speeding, and DUI. The Illinois State Police District 12 includes the ten counties : Jasper, Richland, Crawford, Cumberland, Clark, Lawrence, Clay, Marion, Effingham, and Fayette.
