(OLNEY) The City of Olney will be closing a portion of Holly Road north of East Fork Lake next Monday morning for needed repair work to a city flood water pump. The portion of Holly Road north of East Fork Lake, just north of the Holly Road and Branch Wood Lane intersection, will be closed to all through traffic from 9:00 to 10:00 Monday morning. During this repair time, there will be no access either to or from the East Fork Lake Boat Ramp and/or Rotary Park. Your cooperation is appreciated in advance.

All local clubs, businesses, groups, and families are encouraged to register by this coming Monday, September 17, 2018, by submitting an entry form and picture to be judged. While the contest is free, the Scarecrows and signage must be placed in Bower Park or in front of your business by next Monday with online Facebook judging to follow. (NEWTON/OLNEY) The American Red Cross is urging all eligible donors to get out & give blood during this Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Illinois. Here’s the list of upcoming area blood drives : today at the Blood Donation Center in Effingham from 7:45 to 2:15 : next Monday at the Salvation Army Store in Mattoon from 10:00 to 2:00 : also next Monday at the North Clay Elementary School in Louisville from 2:00 to 6:30 : plus other drives next week in Effingham, Vandalia, and Salem : all blood types and platelets are needed to replenish low regional supplies – especially needed is type “O” blood.
